Mequon man found guilty in homicide of Rosalio Gutierrez

KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A jury found Zachariah Anderson guilty Wednesday, March 22, in the homicide of Rosalio Gutierrez in 2020.

Investigators say Anderson, of Mequon, was the ex-boyfriend of Gutierrez's girlfriend and killed him out of jealousy.

Anderson allegedly killed Gutierrez in his apartment on May 17, 2020, and then burned his body in Ozaukee County.

Investigators say a cadaver dog found remnants of clothing in one of the burn pits that matched the clothing Gutierrez was last known to be wearing.

A trial was initially held in March of 2022, but a judge declared a mistrial without prejudice.

On Wednesday, Anderson was convicted of stalking, first-degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for May 16.
