Mercury Marine to cut nearly 300 jobs at Fond du Lac headquarters

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Mercury Marine, one of Wisconsin's largest employers, announced it will cut nearly 300 jobs at its Fond du Lac headquarters.
The company employs more than 3,500 full-time workers in Fond du Lac, which officials claiming contributes around $5 billion in annual economic impact to the local community.
Mercury Marine officials attribute the layoffs to a "softening of consumer demand" in certain markets.
