Messmer Catholic celebrating 100 years worth of providing education to immigrant families
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- In 1929, Messmer Catholic High School was founded with the idea of providing both education and faith to the city's immigrant families.
After 10 decades, Messmer still stands tall and they celebrated that history Wednesday, March 4.
Students, staff and alumni came together for the Centennial Commemoration, honoring the school's service to Milwaukee.
It's a day a century in the making and Messmer's principal hopes to keep having an impact for years to come.
"It means that Messmer is here to stay," said Messmer Principal Shenora Jordan. "We have been a trailblazer in the community and advancing students and that we are not going anywhere. We are going to continue to advance students to support Milwaukee."
Students also gave tours of the school's historic campus and filled a time capsule for future student's to uncover.
