MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Mexican Fiesta is set to begin Friday, Aug. 23 at Henry Maier Festival Park, expected to draw thousands of people from across the region to celebrate the rich culture of Mexico.
The event is the largest Mexican festival in the Midwest.
Over 110,000 people attended the three-day celebration in 2023. This year’s festivities will start at noon on Friday, running through Sunday, Aug. 25.
The festival will feature more than 36 restaurants offering authentic Mexican cuisine. In addition to food, attendees can enjoy performances from major Latin artists, including the group Jesse y Joy, known for their hit song "¡Corre!" which has over one billion views on YouTube. Jesse y Joy will perform on Friday.
New to the festival this year are the "caballos bailadores" or "dancing horses," showcasing traditional Mexican equestrian action. These performances will take place on Saturday and Sunday in the Fiesta Area.
Also new this year is a live painting debut and pop-up shop by artist Mauricio Ramirez, known for his work throughout the nation, including in Milwaukee.
The Mexican Fiesta Car Show will showcase iconic cars from across the nation, including both new models and classic vehicles. The show is scheduled for Saturday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the south end of the grounds.
