MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Some students got hands-on training from a hometown chef at Bruce-Guadalupe Middle School on Thursday, Jan. 23.
Chef Michael Feker is the owner of Il Mito and Zesti. He is partnering with the United Community Center to give these kids an interactive cooking experience while teaching them some valuable skills.
"I wanted to do something that is beautiful and cultural," said Chef Feker. "Look, we have two choices. We either take what we know about food and teach our most important assets which are our children, or we wait until later, which is too late."
With the help of Chef Feker, the kids created a menu of cowboy beans, chicken tinga and cilantro rice.
Once the meals were hot and ready, the students got the chance to serve their plate to their parents or a loved one.
