CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport will see 9 to 10 thousand people on Tuesday, Dec. 23 between arrivals and departures. And according to TSA, that's not the busiest day they're expecting. Sunday, Dec. 28 Monday, Dec. 29 and Tuesday, Dec. 30 are expected to be the busiest of the season here in Milwaukee.
Travelers that we spoke to say so far everything has been smooth. Although some airports have long lines.
"The lines were a little bit long, but we got through it," said Jennifer DeGrace who is returning home to Seattle.
TSA offered up some reminders for travelers to help the security process move faster.
- Gifts should be unwrapped.
- Arrive to Milwaukee's Airport 90 minutes before your flight
- Make sure to have a real ID or passport.
- check your bags before packing them for any items that are not allowed on the airplane.
During peak times, the Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport often uses K9s to help get people through TSA quickly.
"They work about 20 minutes in each section, and they can put through at least 200 passengers in that 20-minute period, so it really does expedite the line," said Holli Fuller-Cresap, the senior manager for TSA Milwaukee.
