CBS 58 is still working to learn more about the 5-year-old child who was also shot in the car. Police said he suffered serious gunshot injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Eighth district Alderwoman JoCasta Zamarripa sent a statement on the shooting.

“The shooting that occurred yesterday at Pierce and Layton near the Mitchell Park Domes was tragic. A man lost his life, and a young child was injured. I can only imagine the pain that this person’s family is going through, and I send them my well wishes during this difficult time," the statement read.

"We must continue to act to curb gun violence in our communities. Children and families shouldn’t have to fear gunfire while in their car, or anywhere else for that matter. I will continue to work to bring more anti-violence resources to Milwaukee’s south side," the statement read.
