MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Lincoln Avenue School's full K3-5 student body will move to Casimir Pulaski High School for the upcoming school year, Milwaukee Public Schools announced in a Friday, July 10 press release, following the Tuesday, June 30 fire that destroyed the school building.

The Lincoln Avenue School Engagement Council recommended Pulaski, located around 1.5 miles from Lincoln at 25th and Oklahoma, after reviewing several options with the district.

According to MPS, Pulaski was the only nearby site that could keep the entire school community together in one location.

Families whose children attended Lincoln last year do not need to re-register, and bussing will be provided if needed. The district is also accepting new enrollments.

The Lincoln Avenue School building has already been approved for demolition.

MPS is hosting community meetings on the transition on Monday, July 13 at 9 a.m. and Tuesday, July 14 at 5:30 p.m. at the Rogers Street Academy Boys and Girls Club. Both meetings will also be livestreamed.
