MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee County Parks is looking for candidates for its 2023 lifeguard class to help protect pools over the summer months.

The job listing notes that the position will entail being responsible for the safety and well-being of thousands of people on a daily basis, requiring those who are hired to be able to work well under pressure.

Lifeguards will complete a four-part lifeguard training program, featuring in-water training, a civil service physical performance exam, an emergency medical responder course as well as on-site training.

The position requires applicants to be at least 16 years old by July 2023 and able to swim 100 meters in less than 1 minute and 45 seconds. Pay starts at $16.47 an hour with bonus opportunities.
