MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- February is American Heart Month, and to reduce cardiac arrest deaths, Milwaukee County is providing you with knowledge to perform CPR.
County officials shared a new educational video that gives instructions that could save someone's life.
Doctors say the most important part of CPR is starting the chest compressions as soon as possible because people are three times more likely to survive if CPR is administered quickly.
"You're not going to major harm to that person, especially compared to the harm you can do if you delay. Every moment that you delay those chest compressions, the person's chance of survival drops significantly," said Dr. Ben Weston, chief health policy advisor with Milwaukee County.
The video on the Office of Emergency Management's website can be found here.
If you call 911, an operator will walk you through how to perform CPR.
