Milwaukee Fire Chief Aaron Lipski receives Fire Chief of the Year award
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Fire Department took to social media on Thursday, Aug. 15 to announce that Fire Chief Aaron Lipski has been named the 2024 Fire Chief of the Year by the International Association of Fire Chiefs—Great Lakes Division.
Lipski was nominated for the award by Fire and Police Commission Director Leon Todd, with support from the MFD Chief Officers Association.
The award, established in 1996, honors one career and one volunteer fire chief annually, using criteria such as leadership, innovation and service to the public, particularly from 2021 to 2023.
In the social media post, MFD highlighted the importance of Chief Lipski's collaborations with local and national entities, noting the positive impact on the department and its members. "The collaborative efforts between Chief Lipski and the Mayor's Office, the Council and the Milwaukee community at large are essential to our function and position as a nationally recognized fire department."
