MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- For the second year in a row, Easter Sunday will be celebrated during a pandemic.
During a time when so many people are still struggling, it was no surprise to see a long line of cars at an Easter dinner giveaway this morning at the Isaac Coggs Health Center on the 8200 block of W Silver Spring Drive in Milwaukee, as boxes of food for Easter dinner were handed out,
The annual giveaway was first come, first served to anyone who needed it.
Today's event was sponsored by the Milwaukee Health Services Inc. with a a long list of sponsors, including Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin and Galst Food Market.
Families could choose either ham or chicken dinners and along with the food, they could also get a COVID-19 safety kit.
This was a drive-thru only event and volunteers were masked up for safety.
Event officials say they had 2,000 meals to hand out and expected to give them all away within a couple hours.
