Milwaukee man accused of carjacking coach outside Rufus King High School
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee man is facing charges after allegedly carjacking a coach outside Rufus King High School Friday, Sept. 8.
Marshall James Martin is charged with armed carjacking, fleeing or eluding an officer and resisting an officer.
According to a criminal complaint, the victim accompanied students off of a bus around 8 p.m. About a half hour later, he began walking toward his vehicle and saw a man, later identified as Martin.
The complaint says Martin held a large knife to the victim's neck, demanded his wallet and drove off in his car.
Officers located the vehicle at the intersection of W. Capitol Drive and N. 27th Street and attempted to stop it, but the driver accelerated and led officers on a pursuit.
Prosecutors say Martin eventually ran from the vehicle, ignoring numerous commands to stop before he was arrested.
Officers recovered a large knife on the front passenger seat.
In an interview, Martin admitted to pointing the knife at the victim during the carjacking and fleeing from officers.
The complaint says he stated, "I tried my best to make it appear menacing" and to be "as menacing as I could be."
A preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 21.
