MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee man who admitted to sending a string of letters threatening President Trump- in order to frame a man due to testify against him- appeared in court Tuesday, June 3.

Court documents show Demetric Scott wrote three threatening letters, which were sent to multiple authorities across Wisconsin. The letters he wrote had Ramon Morales-Reyes' name on the return address. Scott allegedly put together this plan in order to prevent Morales-Reyes from taking the stand in an armed robbery case.

In court Tuesday, Scott's cash bond was set at $30,000 and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for Tuesday, June 10.

"You decided to write letters to the president, the attorney general, and the police chief, in the name of that alleged victim, to get that person arrested and potentially deported, so he could not testify against you," said Commissioner Barry Phillips.

Morales-Reyes, an undocumented immigrant, was arrested for the letters. Tuesday morning, his attorney told CBS 58 they are now focusing on his deportation case.

"He's certainly relieved that everyone is aware now that he didn't do this," said Attorney Cain Oulahan. "But he's still having a very hard time. He's detained and in jail. He's separated from his family. He's worried about them. He and his family have been separated for a while now and they really just want to get back together."

Ramon Morales-Reyes has a hearing in Chicago Wednesday, June 4, as he tries to fight deportation.
