Milwaukee man allegedly stole woman's phone during Facebook Marketplace trade

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee man allegedly stole a woman's phone during a Facebook Marketplace exchange in Racine.

Amonte Braden, 30, is facing charges of misdemeanor theft and felony bail jumping.

Officers spoke with a woman in the 2000 block of Phillips Avenue back in January. The woman told police that she agreed to trade phones with a man she met off the Facebook Marketplace named Carma Montana.

The woman said they agreed to trade her Apple iPhone XS Max and $150.00 for his Apple iPhone XR.

According to the woman, their phones wouldn't work with each other's services so they agreed to trade back.

The suspect came to her home for the exchange. The woman said she gave him back the Apple iPhone XR and he allegedly asked her to get breakfast with him.

According to the criminal complaint, the woman was wearing slippers so she said she needed to go into her home and put on shoes.

When the woman came back out, the suspect and his car were gone along with both phones and the $150.00.

Officers were able to identify 'Carma Montana' as Amonte Braden through Facebook.
