Milwaukee man charged in connection to hours-long standoff at Hayat Pharmacy

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 29-year-old Milwaukee man has been charged following an hours-long standoff at Hayat Pharmacy.

The incident happened May 22, at the Hayat Pharmacy near Fond du Lac and Capitol.

According to police, they were investigating an attempted armed robbery that occurred in the area and a suspect -- later identified as Nathan Conner -- fled the scene on foot and ran into the Hayat Pharmacy.

Conner then barricaded himself in a break room area of the pharmacy for approximately six hours.

After hours of trying to convince Conner to exit the pharmacy, a criminal complaint says officials used CS gas, entered the room and used a taser to take Conner into custody.

A semi-automatic firearm was located in the break room on a table.

Conner now faces the following charges:

  • Failure to comply with officer's attempt to take person into custody
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Obstructing an officer
  • Disorderly conduct, use of a dangerous weapon

Conner is due in court for a preliminary hearing on June 3.
