Milwaukee man charged with raping, beating woman to death at Washington Park pleads guilty
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee man pleaded guilty Thursday, in the attack of a woman raped and beaten to death at Washington Park in September of 2020.
Nineteen-year-old Kamare Lewis was charged with first-degree reckless homicide and second-degree sexual assault/use of force -- as a party to a crime. Police say he was part of a group of people who attacked 36-year-old Ee Lee, leading to her death.
Investigators say Lee was laying out on the blanket in the park when Lewis and Kevin Spencer, both charged as adults, began harassing her, demanding money. Prosecutors say the harassment quickly escalated to physical violence and sexual assault.
According to a criminal complaint, Lee was beaten, assaulted, and dragged to the pond in Washington Park where she was left to die. She was found half-clothed and unconscious and taken to Froedtert Hospital where she died three days later.
A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for June 16.
