Milwaukee man who fled crash, leaving child at scene, sentenced to 6 years in prison

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee man who was seen fleeing from a crash on the highway and leaving a 4-year-old child at the scene was sentenced on Friday, Aug. 25.

Twenty-one-year-old Ladarius Davis-Hughes was sentenced to six years in prison followed by seven years of extended supervision.

In April, DOT video caught Davis-Hughes hitting the median and crashing his car on I-43 northbound near Holt Avenue.

In a criminal complaint, Milwaukee County sheriff's deputies say when they tried to help him and the child, Davis-Hughes ran from the scene.

He was later seen running westbound on Oklahoma Avenue and eventually taken into custody.

The child was not in any sort of car seat or booster seat in the vehicle and was later turned over to the mother.
