Milwaukee-native Kon Knueppel named NBA Rookie of the Year finalist
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The NBA has announced the three finalists for the Kia NBA Rookie of the Year award, including Kon Knueppel of the Charlotte Hornets who grew up in Milwaukee and attended Wisconsin Lutheran.
The other finalists are VJ Edgecombe of the Philadelphia 76ers and Cooper Flagg of the Dallas Mavericks.
In celebrating Knueppel being named a finalist, the Charlotte Hornets touted his accomplishments as a rookie. They noted he is the first rookie to ever lead the NBA in three-pointers made, and also the third rookie to average 15+ points per game and 5+ rebounds per game while also shooting 40% from being 3-point range.
The team also noted Knueppel having the most 50-40-90 shooting percentage games, which stands for 50% field goal percentage, 40% 3-point percentage and 90% free throw percentage by any NBA player during a single season in history.
The winner of the award will be announced later during the NBA postseason.
