MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Police Association is echoing calls for bail reform, saying in a statement that the lives of Milwaukee police officers depend on it.
In an interview with CBS 58, MPA President Andrew Wagner said his members are growing frustrated with what they say is a pattern of people committing crimes while out on bail.
"We have been getting -- fielding calls from our members all day today asking why, or what can be done. We're arresting these people, we're putting them in jail, we're doing our job, why are these people getting released? Why are they continuing to harm the community and why are they continuing to harm us?"
Wagner also added that Milwaukee County DA John Chisholm shouldn't be held solely responsible for recent violence, saying it will take a statewide effort to reduce violent crime.
