MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) --- The Milwaukee Police Department is hosting a night of fun for the community.
District 5 held its National Night Out Aug. 30 with activities for the whole family. The event was held at Rose Park and officials say they've been planning it for months.
"It's so important for us to have events like this because it shows the human side of us. Often times people only see us wearing a uniform, the badge, today we're regular folks and we are regular folks everyday but sometimes people don't see that," said District 5 Captain Sheronda Grant.
Among the activities was a bounce house, face painting, horseback riding and more. Officials say this is a time for the community to come together to celebrate the end of summer and for police to get to know the neighbors in the area.
