Update: 5-year-old Milwaukee boy dies from probable fentanyl poisoning, ME's office says

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 5-year-old boy who died near 37th and Darien Streets was the result of probable fentanyl poisoning, according to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office. 

A 24-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested in connection to the incident, according to police. Criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.

Milwaukee police continue to investigate.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police are investigating the death of a 5-year-old child near North 37th and Darien Streets. 

Officials were called to the scene around 11:25 p.m. Wednesday, May 11. 

Upon arrival, the young boy was found unresponsive and pronounced deceased. 

Police say there were no visible signs of trauma. 

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office responded to the scene and is assisting in the investigation.
