MILWAUKEE, Wisc. (CBS58)-- Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn will announce the creation of MPD's Overdose Task Force. Chief Flynn will discuss the opioid overdose increase the City is experiencing and details on the new Task Force.
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Alderman Michael Murphy will be at the event.
Back in October, in hopes to combat the opioid epidemic, city leaders pushed for prescription drop boxes to be placed at local businesses.
The Milwaukee County medical examiner confirmed that heroin is no longer the leading cause of overdose deaths, instead, Fentanyl has taken its place.
