Milwaukee police update parents on school resource officers 10 months after return
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police held a meeting with parents nearly 10 months after school resource officers returned to Milwaukee Public Schools.
People in Milwaukee were given a chance to speak directly to officers and ask about their roles in schools. Capt. Vynetta Norberg said there are 33 school resource officers who were carefully selected.
The officers are working to engage with students, provide mentoring and build relationships through daily contact, Norberg said.
"Each week is to engage with the students more, mentor the students more and have our SROs do that through daily contact with these students. That is really our goal," Norberg said.
The officers are working to build relationships with students and make a positive impact across MPS, according to police.
