MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — A 50-year-old Milwaukee woman has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for her role in a deadly shooting at Bar 107 Sports Bar in 2025.

Court records show April J. Miller was sentenced to 25 years in prison followed by 15 years of extended supervision after pleading guilty to first-degree reckless homicide with use of a dangerous weapon and first-degree reckless injury with use of a dangerous weapon.

Miller pleaded guilty to both charges in June. She will receive credit for 507 days already served in jail.

The shooting happened March 16, 2025, near 107th Street and Granville Road.

Milwaukee police said two people were shot around 1:40 a.m. Family members identified one of the victims as Bernisha Butcher, who later died from her injuries. The other victim suffered serious injuries.

The shooting was one of three separate incidents Milwaukee police investigated within about an hour. Additional shootings were reported near 76th Street and Thurston Avenue and near Third Street and Vienna Avenue.

Police arrested Miller on March 18 after investigators said she opened fire on two women at Bar 107, killing one and seriously injuring the other.
