MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Marquette University is welcoming the class of 2029 into its residence halls Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 20.
Move-in started at 8 a.m. with a formal blessing for new students and their families.
"You see a little nerves from the students and the families," said MU Executive Director or Housing and Residence Life Mary Janz. "They'll get in, they'll get settled in their rooms and then you'll see like the warm embraces as they say goodbye and some of the tears."
Wednesday's move-in was for first-year students. The rest of the on-campus students will move in on Friday and Saturday.
During move-in, there will be street closures on 13th, 17th and 18th St. between Wells and Wisconsin Avenue.
The first day of school for all undergraduate students at Marquette is Monday, Aug. 25.
