MPD officer seriously injured after crash near 6th and Layton

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Police are investigating a crash that injured an officer on Wednesday, Oct 30. 

It happened near 6th and Layton around 2:45 p.m. 

According to the Milwaukee Police Department, a vehicle made a U-turn in front of an MPD motorcycle officer, causing a crash. 

Police say the driver of the vehicle attempted to flee, but his vehicle became disabled. He was arrested and transported to a hospital. 

Criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.

The motorcycle officer, a 50-year-old man, was transported to a hospital for treatment of serious, but non-fatal injuries.
