Milwaukee police release surveillance video from officer-involved shooting near 15th and Hopkins

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police have released videos of an officer-involved shooting that took place July 9 near 15th and Hopkins.

Two MPD detectives were riding in an unmarked squad just before 7:30 p.m., according to MPD, when they say they saw a suspect grab an individual and point a firearm at their head.

Police say the detectives stopped, got out of the squad and ordered the suspect to get on the ground, while identifying themselves as police.

The police department says the suspect pointed his firearm at the detectives and both officers fired at the suspect, who then fled the scene.

Police say at the time, it was believed that the suspect was uninjured.

The following evening, officers located and arrested the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Marc Parr, near 37th and Locust. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment of a non-fatal gunshot injury.

The Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office issued criminal charges against the suspect, and the detectives involved in the incident returned to full duty.

MPD says detectives are not issued body worn cameras. The police department is releasing video surveillance from a nearby business that captured parts of the incident.
