MIUKWONAGO, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A quiet but powerful award presentation was held at the Mukwonago Fire Department Monday.
State Senator Julian Bradley (R-New Berlin) presented four firefighters with his "Forward 28" award for a recent rescue.
"We just want to say thank you," Sen. Bradley said. "Thank you for the job that you all do on a regular basis, and thank you for stepping up and being, truly, heroes."
The firefighters- Captain Zachary Cuomo, Scot Laabs, Michael Ludwig and Alex Mihlbauer, saved two fisherman who fell through the ice on Rainbow Springs Lake and were stranded in freezing water.
"It's a great feeling, being able to go to bed at night and be able to help the people of our community and allow them to have another day," Mihlbauer said. "Especially to go out ice fishing and enjoy the sport once more."
The Forward 28 award was created by Sen. Bradley to recognize unsung heroes who make a difference in the 28th Senate district.
