Marathon runner hit during multi-vehicle accident in Cudahy
CUDAHY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Cudahy Police Department responded to a crash involving three vehicles and a pedestrian on Sunday, Oct. 6.
According to police, the pedestrian was participating in the Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon that was in progress at the time.
The crash happened around 11:20 a.m., near Lake Drive and Henry in Cudahy. Traffic was running in lanes bordering the marathon.
Police say preliminary investigation showed that a 68-year-old woman was traveling southbound in the right lane when she experienced a medical emergency. Her vehicle sideswiped another vehicle, causing minor damage. The vehicle operator was not injured.
The first vehicle then struck another southbound vehicle, driven by a 65-year-old man, causing that vehicle to roll over on its side. After striking the second vehicle, the first vehicle struck a pedestrian, the marathon runner. The pedestrian was identified as a 28-year-old woman from Medford.
The striking vehicle came to rest in the tree line east of Lake Drive and Henry.
The pedestrian and two vehicle operators were transported to a hospital for treatment.
Police say nothing criminal is suspected in this case.
