Multiple people shot, one dead, overnight in downtown Racine
RACINE, Wis (CBS 58) -- According to Racine police, a Mt. Pleasant officer was near the 13th St. and Washington Ave. at around 2:40 a.m. on Sun., May 15 when he abruptly heard screaming and cars leaving the area while emergency calls began coming through to Racine dispatch.
As Racine officers arrived on scene, they discovered a 42-year-old male and a 28-year-old female who had both been shot.
The male victim was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The female victim's wound has been deemed as non-life threatening.
Police say that a suspect has been taken into custody and the investigation is ongoing at this time.
