WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) – Whether you’ve got a specific project you’re working on, or you just need some ideas for home improvement plans -- there’s a booth for everyone at The National Association of Remodeling Industries Home Show.

They say the best time to start a home project is whenever you have the time to finish it.

"They’re coming to see some of the best remodeling people in the business," said Ted Grund, Chair of NARI Show Committee. "You’ve gone all year, all summer. You’ve been very busy, and those projects start -- you start thinking about those projects."

Grund says there’s no better time than the present.

"Don’t do it later," said Grund.

Grund says these days, people aren’t looking to move. Instead, they’re investing into upgrading the homes they have.

“The remodeling business has been very busy for quite some time because folks have been staying in their homes,” said Grund. “There’s a lot of work because what happens is you think it’s going to be some paint and some drywall and it’s done but when it comes to remodeling, there’s that unknown of what that contractor might find.”

That’s why Grund says people should take advantage of the NARI Home and Remodeling Show and meet the faces behind the jobs.

“Come see latest projects or the products for those projects and some questions. And talk to them in person, get comfortable with that contractor in person,” said Grund.

Grund says set a budget, ask questions, and don’t be afraid to shop around.

“So, there’s really not a project that you won’t find somebody here that can answer some of the questions for you and your project,” said Grund.

He says the only way you’ll ever finish that project is if you start right here, in the present.

“Whatever you want those done, start now because that time will go quick,” said Grund.

This year, the NARI Milwaukee Foundation will also have a Greenhouse Grove student challenge. High school students will be able to practice their trade skills by constructing a model greenhouse. The completed greenhouses will be showcased at NARI’s Spring Home Improvement Show in February.

The NARI Home and Remodeling Show kicks off this Friday at noon and runs through Sunday. Tickets are available online.
