MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- At Marquette University Tuesday, one group of students is especially excited.
University officials invited the media to the new and expanded College of Nursing.
The new nursing school is located at 12th and Wisconsin Avenue, and it offers double the classroom space and double the simulation and lab space compared to the old College of Nursing.
There's also more room for students to study and to work together.
The dean of the College of Nursing tells us that the reaction from students who've seen the new facility has been remarkable.
"I've never seen so many smiles in the first week of class," said Jill Guttormson. "To see students coming to class and then staying and working together, to see them getting to talk to each other and meet new people and form different bonds."
Marquette officials anticipated the current shortage of nurses and knew that they couldn't meet the needs in the old space they were using.
This renovation is their response.
