New fatherhood has Richfield's Josh Bilicki ready for NASCAR start to the season
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Josh Bilicki starts the race year, with wife Kaitlyn and new baby boy Cole.
"It just adds a whole other element of me being gone and me feeling guilty that I'm gone," NASCAR Xfinity Driver and Richfield resident Josh Bilicki said. "But it's my job. So, I mean Kaitlyn, my wife understands. You know, I have a unique situation since I live here still and I'm not in Charlotte. My family? I live two miles from my parents. And my parents are going to be a massive help."
In the offseason season, the Richfield native kept up his chops by racing trikes on ice at an Admirals game and sprint cars on dirt.
"The dirt stuff definitely makes me better," Bilicki said. "I mean, it's nothing like anything I've ever done."
Still living in Wisconsin? Bilicki definitely lives out of a suitcase as he starts the season at Daytona in the NASCAR Xfinity series and more.
"2024 was 51 races between sports cars. NASCAR Xfinity. NASCAR Cup," Bilicki said. "This year will be a little bit more NASCAR."
And this year? You may see him racing halfway across the country one day, and the next in the Badger state.
"If I can fly home Saturday night after a NASCAR Xfinity race and be back on track on Sunday? I will," Bilicki said. "So yeah, my goal is to race as much as I can. You know, this year might be a little bit different because I have to balance that with life and a newborn baby and you know, I don't want to be a complete awful husband."
