New Sendik's Food Market holds grand opening in Whitefish Bay

WHITEFISH BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Sendik's Food Market held a ribbon cutting and grand opening Wednesday, Sept. 23, for its new 2-story location on Silver Spring Drive in Whitefish Bay, marking the completion of a major redevelopment of the store's former site.

Co-owner Ted Balistreri described the store as offering more than a typical grocery experience. "There's so much to offer, you could start out with the coffee bar and a soda bar, move over to a fresh green salad bar, a hot bar, a sushi bar, a pan-Asian bar, a burrito bar, you name it," Balistreri said.

"Sandwiches freshly made to go. And we have a wonderful mezzanine where people can sit and enjoy a beverage or coffee or a sandwich and be with friends and family."

The opening comes as the Balistreri family marks 100 years in the grocery business, according to Balistreri.
