New technology this year at American Family Field: Scan tickets hands-free with facial authentication
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- This year at American Family Field, you'll be asked to put your game face on. It won't just be in the seats. New facial authentication technology will allow fans to be able to scan their tickets without pulling out their phone at the ballpark.
Those planning to head to a game at American Family Field can download the MLB Ballpark app and scan their face with Go-Ahead Entry. When your face is authenticated, digital tickets to that day’s game will be automatically scanned and you can walk right into the ballpark.
“We thought this was a magical opportunity to make a magical ballpark entry experience," said Karri Zaremba, the Major League Baseball senior vice president of ballpark experience. “It’s designed for fans who want an easier, faster, frictionless way to enter the ballpark.”
Zaremba said 95% of fans attend games as a group and two-thirds of those groups are families. With this technology, fans can walk in as a group, meaning the whole crew can watch the Brew Crew.
“It’s completely seamless," said Steve Ethier, the Brewers senior vice president of stadium operations. "You walk through; your ticket is validated by facial authentication.”
Fans must be 18 years of age or older to use Go-Ahead Entry. You can read more about Go-Ahead entry here.
Go-Ahead Entry is expanding to nine MLB ballparks this season. The first home game here is on Monday.
