RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Two separate apartment fires in Racine left a handful of residents without a place to stay.

The first was a kitchen fire, which started around 12:30 Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 17, with damage limited to one unit.

Less than two hours later another fire caused a lot of damage at a duplex just down the street.

Both units are no longer livable and two people including a baby were treated for smoke inhalation.

The fire department says both fires caused a combined $140,000 worth of damage.

The investigation into the second fire is ongoing.
