SALEM, Wis. (CBS 58) -- No criminal charges will be sought after a student brought a toy foam dart blaster to Salem School on Wednesday, Sept. 16, according to the Kenosha County Sheriff's Office.

School administrators and the school's resource officer, Deputy Dominguez, responded after becoming aware of the item, the sheriff's office said. Investigators confirmed it was a toy, not a firearm.

The 11-year-old student reportedly made no threats, and officials say there was no indication of ill intent and no danger to students or staff at any point.

The sheriff's office thanked Salem School staff for their quick response and encouraged parents to remind children not to bring toy or replica weapons to school. Salem School will handle the matter according to its policies.
