No charges for deputy in officer involved shooting in Town of Windsor

WINDSOR, Wis. (CBS 58) -- An officer involved shooting in the Town of Windsor from Oct. 13, where a deputy discharged his firearm and shot and killed a man, has resulted in no charges for the deputy, the DA says.

Police say the incident happened at the Super 8 Hotel on Lake Circle regarding a stolen vehicle.

According to the DA, the deputy was giving verbal commands to Campbell to stay in the car and put it in park.

Campbell was exiting the truck into the driver's seat, then moved out of the parking stall, all while the deputy was still at the front of the truck.

Dane County Sheriff's Deputy Cody Woods fired shots, striking Campbell.

The victim, 46-year-old Quantaze Campbell, was taken to a local hospital. He died from his injuries.

Woods faces no criminal charges in this incident.

This is an ongoing investigation.

The Dane County Sheriff's Office will begin their own administrative review on the incident.

Deputy Woods remains on leave during this process.
