WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- When talking about free gas, word travels fast.
Drivers flocked to ARC Mobil in Wauwatosa Thursday once word got out that for 100 minutes, the team from North Shore Bank was offering to pump and pay for gas.
"Community has been at the forefront of what we do," said Mike Williams with North Shore Bank. "We thought it would be the perfect time to surprise the community ahead of the holiday weekend."
Celebrating North Shore Bank's 100th anniversary, team members not only paid for and pumped gas for unsuspecting drivers -- they also cleaned their windshields and even offered a free cookie, all as a way of saying "thank you" to the community for 100 years of business.
"I was just like, 'Is that free gas? Look at God!'" exclaimed one driver.
Williams says it's events like this that can help launch the bank into its next 100 years.
"The more that we can give back to our community, we've learned, the more they give back to us," Williams said. "We'll be around for the next hundred years if we keep doing stuff like this."
