MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- North Shore Fire and Rescue and Glendale police rescued two kayakers from the Milwaukee River Sunday, April 19. 

Emergency crews responded to a rescue of an adult and juvenile needed rescue after their kayak overturned in the Milwaukee River near North Milwaukee River Parkway in the City of Glendale. 

Crews say that when they arrived, they found the kayakers standing on an island in the river, recent rainfall caused elevated waters and faster currents - causing the kayak to overturn. 

Both were removed from the river and transported to an area hospital. 

North Shore Fire and Rescue urges that people use extreme caution when entering the Milwaukee River at this time due to unsafe water conditions.
