November and meteorological fall stats are in as we look ahead to December

We are almost a full week into the month of December and the November wrap up weather stats are in along with meteorological fall which includes September, October and November.

Overall November was a warm month with an average temperature of 42.2* almost 2* above average. It goes down as the 20th warmest November on record with a warmest temp of 70* on November 6th and the coldest temp on November 28th of 15*.

We had some soaking rain in November but overall the month ended below average on precipitation. In total we saw 1.75" which was more than November 2022 but almost a full half inch below the monthly average of 2.24".

Snowfall was also below average in November. The average monthly snowfall is 2.5" and Milwaukee only got just over an inch of snowfall for the month. 

Even though November was below average on snowfall when you add in the snow we had on Halloween the entire meteorological fall season was above average on snowfall by almost a full inch. We saw 4.4" of snow during October and November with no snow falling in September. 

Total fall rainfall was well above average as well. We had some good soaking rains in September and October which pushed our fall rainfall total to 9.57" which goes down as the 37th wettest meteorological fall on record and well above the seasonal average of 8.18".

When it came to temps in September, October and November it was warm. The average temperature of 55.3* was tied for the 5th warmest fall on record. 

Now we are in the month of December which does see some good cooling on average. By New Year's Eve the average high will drop into the low 30s and the lows dip into the teens. December is our third snowiest month on average with over 10" of snow.
