MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- National Nurses Week has been from May 6 - 12, with May also being Stroke Awareness Month.
In recognition of these two important periods, board-certified nurse practitioner Jason Gleason joined us to share his insights on Thursday, May 11.
Gleason spoke about the significant role of the 4.2 million nurses in the United States, highlighting their essential contributions to healthcare, especially amidst the pandemic. With years of service in military and Veterans Affairs settings, Gleason emphasized the importance of expressing gratitude to these frontline heroes.
He also underscored the need for stroke awareness, driven by personal tragedy when his wife, without any known risk factors, suffered a devastating stroke.
Gleason has since initiated the Rocky Mountain Stroke Conference and advocates for stroke awareness at national professional gatherings.
