OCONOMOWOC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- As the championship coordinator of the U.S. Women's Open at Erin Hills, Katy Kluge carries the hardware.

"This is the Harton S. Semple trophy," Kluge says. "It has been presented by the USGA annually since 1953. So our Women's Open champion will get their name engraved on this base the night that they win the championship. So truly a great moment for them, to see their name etched into history."

So would little Katy from Oconomowoc, back in the day, believe that she would be helping with a major golf tournament in her home state, not that far away from where she grew up?

"No, it's hard to believe. And I'm not an avid golfer," Kluge says. "Wasn't an avid golfer in high school. Played volleyball. But golf championships, if you've never been to one, it's truly an amazing event, and it is more than just golf. And I think that's something I experienced in 2017. And pushed me to this path that I'm now on. Just 20 minutes up from my house, I'm running a golf championship that will be streamed and watched globally. It's the premiere championship for women's golf. So, largest purse in women's golf. So to say that I have something to do with that is pretty special, especially in my home state."
