Old World Wisconsin embracing the holiday spirit during 'Home for the Holidays'
EAGLE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Old World Wisconsin is set to transform into a festive 19th-century holiday setting during "Home for the Holidays," inviting families to experience a historic village adorned in fresh greenery.
Visitors can engage with a Victorian-era Santa, enjoy a horse-drawn wagon ride and even encounter the mythical “Krampus” from Alpine folklore starting Saturday, Dec. 2.
Highlights of the Old World Wisconsin winter transformation include a daily 2:30 p.m. candlelit procession celebrating St. Lucia with Finnish and Scandinavian traditions, hot cocoa and seasonal drinks at the Winter Cheer Garden along with storytelling sessions by the bonfire with classic holiday tales.
A Holiday Craft Tent will allow guests to make Victorian paper and leather ornaments, craft decorations from live greens or write a letter to Santa. The 1910 Finnish Farm showcases live goats, symbolizing the Scandinavian Yule goat.
"Home for the Holidays" will be open Dec. 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 and 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with last entry each day at 1:00 p.m.
