Packers pick up cornerback who was just cut by the Jets

The Green Bay Packers are adding cornerback Derrick Jones to their roster after he was waived by the New York Jets.

Jones is a 6-foot-2, 188-pound third-year player from the University of Mississippi. He was taken in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Jets. Jones only played in a total of four games in two years with the Jets, recording three solo tackles (in 2018).

Jones is 24 years old and played mostly wide receiver during his first three years in college. In his senior season, he returned to cornerback, a position he also played in high school.
