Rodgers was drafted 25th overall in the 2005 NFL Draft and spent his first three seasons as a backup to Packers star Brett Favre. When Favre left after the 2008 season, Rodgers took over and quickly established himself as one of the league's new stars.
In his second season, Rodgers lead the Packers to the playoffs and earned a spot in his first Pro Bowl.
One year later, Rodgers guided the Packers to a championship, beating the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-25 in Super Bowl XLV.
In his 18-year career with the Packers, Rodgers won the NFL MVP Award four times, including back-to-back honors in 2020 and 2021.
He also holds the Packers all-time record with 475 career touchdown passes.
But Rodgers' regular season prowess often didn't translate into post-season success. He went 11-10 as a starter in the playoffs and never returned to the Super Bowl after his first victory in February of 2011.
The Jets are no stranger to former Packers quarterbacks. Favre announced his retirement following the 2007 season and just a year later, he joined the Jets organization in 2008, before finishing the last two years of his career with the Vikings.
Rodgers joins a young New York Jets team that drafted BYU quarterback Zach Wilson with the second overall pick in the 2021 draft.
