Passenger speaks after driver in police chase admits fleeing like 'Grand Theft Auto'
GREENFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 20-year-old was caught on a Greenfield Police dash cam trying to outrun authorities in his parent's minivan.
The woman sitting in his passenger seat spoke only to CBS58 about what happened.
"It was the craziest ride of my life," said Kristin Bailey.
The 20-year-old met Logan Brandenburg online, and the two had met in person just a few weeks before. He was driving her home on November 19th when the police tried to pull them over.
Bailey told police Brandenburg asked her "Should I just dip?"
"I said no you should definitely pull over that's the right thing to do," said Bailey. "But then he just went crazy, driving 100 miles per hour. He did not care, screaming, 'I'm on probation, and I can't stop,' and I was very scared in the car and I just kept begging him to let me out of the car," said Bailey.
He eventually let her out at a Speedway gas station, and that's where police caught up to him again. Just a few miles later, Brandenburg missed a turn and crashed. The car was smoking as the first responding officer approached.
The 20-year-old admitted he'd smoked marijuana prior to driving, and told police he crashed while trying to GPS directions to his house.
Bailey says the vehicle was totaled and Brandenburg was injured in the crash. Police say while in the hospital, Brandenburg told a nurse he was "trying to get away like in Grand Theft Auto"
Bailey says she's blessed Brandenburg let her out of the car a few minutes into the police chase.
