Pat Murphy named NL Manager of the Year

CBS 58

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Pat Murphy's first full season as an MLB manager was worth the wait.

The 65-year-old rookie has officially been named the National League Manager of the Year.

Murphy is the first Brewer to ever win the award, ending Milwaukee's reign as the only team in the majors without one.

The Brewers were expected to take a major step back this year, losing Corbin Burnes and Brandon Woodruff while watching Craig Counsell leave for the Cubs.

Instead, Murphy led a young team to 93 wins and an easy NL Central title despite playing a franchise record 17 different starting pitchers and dealing with injuries to key players like Woodruff, Devin Williams, and Christian Yelich.
