Plant Joy Deli in Wauwatosa receives small business boost from county grant program
CBS 58 WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A small business in Wauwatosa received a financial boost from the Milwaukee County grant program, Building Bridges.
On Tuesday, Jan. 27, a ribbon cutting was held for the state's first-ever vegan deli "Plant Joy Deli."
Business owners and local leaders were at the restaurant celebrating the milestone.
It's a first-of-its-kind deli that has high hopes of serving customers healthier food without breaking the bank.
"Regardless of the ZIP code you live in, how much you make, I really want people to realize that food and good quality food can be accessible to all," said Amberlea Childs, Plant Joy Deli owner and head chef.
"The fact that you have been able to now open up and provide healthier foods to our entire county is something that is admirable," said Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley.
Plant Joy Deli is opening their doors to the public Thursday, Jan. 29 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
